Analysis of REDD+ potential in two areas of Cote d'Ivoire

Since its commitment to the REDD+ mechanism in 2010, Côte d'Ivoire has undertaken all possible initiatives for its implementation. This is what justifies this study that will identify the causes of deforestation and forest degradation and propose measures to address them. This would contribute to the global fight against climate change. To do this, a field survey was conducted among 210 people composed of farmers, traders of timber and non-timber forest products and has identified the causes of deforestation and forest degradation, climate risks, their impacts on forest ecosystems and adaptation measures. Daily data from the 1950-2007 rainfall series from the Abidjan and Dimbokro synoptic stations and the 1961-2000 temperature series from the Abidjan synoptic station were used. SPSS, Instat+, Rclimdex and XLSTAT software were used to analyze survey data on deforestation and degradation factors, farmers' perceptions and agro-climatic parameters of the season, and statistical tests.
