During the Advent season, the study guides focused on the passages related to the Christmas story. I would place an insert into the bulletin each Sunday that would take the congregation on a daily study of passages in the Old Testament related to the prophecies of the coming Messiah or passages in the New Testament that told the story of Jesus coming to earth as Immanuel, God with Us. Then on the following Sunday morning I would preach on the passages people had studied throughout the week. It became a great learning tool for those who used it and it kept everyone thinking about the same aspects of the Advent and Christmas season. In this book you will find one study guide that has 28 different passages and sets of questions which you can divide up however you would like; four weeks at seven days per week; or four and one half weeks at six days a week; or just taking the month of December and beginning at day 1 and working through until day 28, three days following Christmas. The second set of study guides include seven sets of questions revolving around the prophecies of Isaiah and Micah, the visit of the angel to Mary and Joseph, the Birth of Jesus, the vision of the Shepherds and the visit of the Wise Men. These seven weeks of studies can be used over a period of years while you preach on each of these passages during the Advent season. You can also use these guides as small group topics for the Advent season or your Bible Study, Sunday school classes can use this as the curriculum for the season. Anyway you choose to use these study guides you will have people covering many wonderful aspects of the Christmas story and how that story impacts our faith today.
