Timing is Everything is a book of two stories. In "Second Chance," Jonathan Warner lives in the shadow of his father, a well decorated army officer. Although nothing about the military appeals to him, Jonathan joins the army during World War II. Recovering from a wound acquired in a dubious manner, he finds himself in a very unusual airport with a collection of unique individuals. He is especially intrigued by one young lady who joins them. In "Last Chance" Ben Rising and Amy Ann Wilkerson meet while in college. Although they get along well together, they are directed towards different paths in life. The two find that no matter how meticulous their planning, life events dictate who they will eventually become and where their individual paths will lead them.
