Black Texas Women: A Sourcebook
Ruthe Winegarten
The original source materials that Ruthe Winegarten uncovered during her extensive research on black women in Texas.
Commendation Quotes: One of its kind. This book is very much needed because of the scarcity of material on black women's history in Texas, or black women's history in general. Marc Notes: Includes index; Free women of color -- Slavery -- Reconstruction and beyond -- Education -- The arts -- Churches, clubs, and community building -- Earning a living -- Politics and protest.
