Jarvis Cocker
Published on the occasion of a major exhibition at The Hepworth Wakefield, this personal selection of images by Jarvis Cocker and Kim Sion showcases visual artists who have challenged mainstream expectations about what art can be. Renowned musician and lead singer of Pulp Jarvis Cocker and his wife Kim Sion are the creators of ‘The Hodge Podge’, a personal selection of eclectic artworks that speak to their interest in artists who have challenged mainstream ideas about what can be considered art. 'The Hodge Podge' invites unique and unlikely conversations between artists such as Hieronymus Bosch, Jeremy Deller, James Turrell, Peter Doig, Mark Leckey, Emma Kunz and Barbara Hepworth, as well as unknown outsider and visionary artists never before exhibited in UK public museums.
Interested in alternative means of expression, the structures of class and how communities can come together outside religious or high-brow contexts, Cocker includes works that explore alternative spiritualities, psychedelia, dreams, poetry and music. ‘The Hodge Podge’ will enable readers to explore the many ways that creativity occurs inside and outside of art-world norms, bringing together both the familiar and strange.
