Red Reflections is a love and spy story set among the fall of the Soviet Union. Mike, an American attorney and former Navy recon pilot, is falsely implicated in the murder of a Russian defector. The Russian defector has apparent ties to a mafia family in Russia. Mike falls in love with a beautiful, but married young Russian, Anna, he met in Moscow, who comes to the United States to study. Anna is connected to the Russian intelligence community through her husband, Peter. Mike reflects on his affair with Anna and together with Zhuravlov, an FBI agent in counterintelligence, and through the intrigues and revelations discovers that Anna may not be the woman he thought she was. The book is a study of human relationships, betrayal, the search for truth, love and the emerging politics of the United States and Russia following the fall of communism. It is a highly complex and sensual story of hope and betrayal and discovery.
