Under investigation by the Elder's Council for taking down a neighboring kingdom's royal, Nate, as co-ruler and sheriff of Los Angeles, tries to keep his focus on local problems. What seem like a cold trail of decades old cases start to coalesce into evidence of something dangerous still traveling through rural communities, leaving few, if any, alive. When Nate and Dai discover the trail leads into a neighboring kingdom they are forbidden from entering, they must choose whether to chase down the evil and prevent the murder of hundreds of innocent lives or obey the Elder's Council and wait for the evil to swing back their way.
