The angel Cassius is given a second chance to watch over his ward, Reese-but neither is good at keeping his distance. Not everyone is special enough to earn a guardian angel. When Cassius's failure to protect Reese resulted in a major injury, the two were separated indefinitely. Now, Cassius is given a second chance to get it right. Nine years have passed since he's seen Reese, and if he doesn't fuck it up, he'll get to watch over him for every day of his life. But Cassius has never been very good at keeping his distance and old habits die hard.
