Veerashaivas existed prior to the 12th century, but their philosophy and practices were based on Shiv?gamas (9th century), Siddh?nta Shikh?ma?i (10th century), and/or Shr?karabh?shya (11th century). The present day Ling?yatas are the followers of the philosophy and practices put forward by the Shara?as of the twelfth century. The terms 'Veerashaiva' and 'Ling?yata' have been used interchangeably. The religious philosophy is Theistic Monism, a belief that all is God and the Self is God. The religious practice includes all aspects of one's daily life. This book has extracted the essence of the Oneness Philosophy and Practice, and has given it in a summary form so that it can be understood easily.
