It is estimated that more than four million taxi and truck drivers will lose their jobs if autonomous cars become ubiquitous. That technology is just around the corner. With online sales going thru the roof, brace for this, ladies and gentlemen; there are more than fifteen million people working in the retail industry today. Not all jobs will go away, but most will. It is also feared that almost ten million jobs will disappear in the construction industry if 3-D printed homes hit the market. China is already building livable homes using 3-D printers. Manufacturing, agricultural, restaurant, transportation -pretty much every industry will soon be affected by technology. What a mess we are going to witness! When we nurture Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance our living style and plump up our comforts, undoubtedly it will whisk away our jobs. Now the question is how to survive this massive collateral damage. Global Think Tank is actively deliberating a universal basic income (UBI) for those left behind. But the point is, no matter how much we debate, this can only be achieved if there is abundance. With the current high cost of living, the UBI is impractical for the huge unemployed population we are forestalling.
