I was born in a country that no longer exists: "Yugoslavia". I belong to the descendants of a monarchical dynasty that began in 1020 and became extinct in the 18th century: "The House of Habsburg". My forebears were German. My DNA is German. As a boy, my classmates derided and humiliated me, calling me "Nazi" and punishing me severely and cruelly, although I have never discriminated against anyone because of their race or because of their religious or cultural background. My mother taught me these values. I am a survivor. I survived myriad death threats: death threats I received before I was born, when I was born, and throughout the trajectory of my life.
