Very Nice Girl: A Novel Imogen Crimp

“Imogen Crimp’s enjoyable debut novel… is an all-too-real reminder of what it is to be a woman in your 20s…” – The New York Times

"Tender, devastating, witty. And deeply true. Sweetbitter meets Normal People.”—Meg Mason, author of Sorrow and Bliss

By day, Anna is a promising student at an elite opera school, struggling to belong and devoting herself to her craft. By night, she sings for cash at a bar and grows increasingly desperate to hold the attention of wealthy, inscrutable Max, ignoring all the warning signs that their relationship may be toxic. As her roles on and off stage begin to feel all-consuming, Anna must reckon with the fact that, in carefully performing what’s expected of her as a woman, she risks losing herself completely. A bitingly honest and darkly funny debut from a fresh, captivating voice, A Very Nice Girl reminds us that we are always just one moment away from setting all we hold dear on fire.
