In a little known sermon called 'In Natali Domini (# 281), delivered by the great St. Augustine in the fifth century, there are some unforgettable words about Jesus Christ: Christus: Pulcher in Patre Verbum, Pulcher in utero Virgine, Puncher in matre caro, Christ: The Word beautiful in the Father, Beautiful in the womb of the Virgin, Beautiful as a baby, Ubique enim Christus DominusPulcher occurrebat: Pulcher in coelis, Pulcher in terris, Christus ubique pulcher. For the Lord ChristWalks about beautiful everywhere, Beautiful in the heavens, Beautiful on earth; Christ is beautiful everywhere.(My Translation) Christ the beautiful one is the theme of this book: he is the incarnate God, beautiful beyond imagination: a beautiful baby, a beautiful man, a beautiful God made man. To him we give praise always and everywhere.
