Many books have been written about Bitcoin on either a historical or technical level. The aim of this book is not to shy away from the basic technicalities, but still avoid the very complicated technical aspects of programming, cryptographic code and so on. Terms such as mining, blockchain and proof of work are described in an easy to understand manner. It is also not a fully comprehensive historical reference of cryptocurrency. Only major historical events of Bitcoin and other coins have been included. Simply put, I hope to give the reader an understanding of what cryptocurrencies are, where they come from and how they can be used. You may already be aware of cryptocurrency or you may be curious to find out what they are all about. It is therefore an introduction or a useful reference guide.
