Author's note: I have been writing poetry since I was a child. I have used a free verse style for most of my work, although some poems do have a rhyming pattern, particularly the humorous ones. I like the freedom to use my poetry writing as the exploration of my inner feelings and ideas. Poems I write are a self-expression and sometimes tell a story. The poems are given intensity by the use of different and distinctive styles and rhythms. Poems do not have to rhyme. I enjoy reading both rhymed and free verse poetry. Poems don't have to follow any rules. That doesn't mean a poet can't experiment with following traditional rhyme schemes and metrical patterns.
