This textbook is intended for true and false beginners particularly post-high-school students enrolled in the Orientation Programme of some universities of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Throughout the book, vocabulary and other language items are introduced in such a way that simpler language is taught first before items of higher levels of difficulty are dealt with. This Reading book provides the students with intellectually stimulating readings which expand their understanding. The focus is on strategies that make reading easier for the students. To this end, vocabulary has been carefully controlled to be at the students' level of comprehension. Throughout the book students are exposed to a limited number of vocabulary items which are continuously revised to enable students to improve rapidly. High frequency vocabulary has been recycled throughout the units of the book to give students the opportunity to see new vocabulary many times and in a variety of contexts. The book features PRE-READING - activities through which students are introduced to the theme of the reading. READING TEXT - Here students focus on the reading which, by and large, requires them to reflect on their pre-reading activities. CHECK YOUR UNDERSTANDING - This section allows students to read the whole text or parts of it and look for specific information to answer a set of comprehension questions. INCREASE YOUR WORD POWER introduces vocabulary in context. EXPLORE THE TEXT enables students to interact more with the passage by addressing the sentence level.
