This special re-print edition of Hartley & Son's book "Belgian Homing Pigeons: Their Rearing, Training and Management". Written in 1884, included are full details on breeding and training Homing Pigeons. Though this book was written in the early days of pigeon racing, it still contains much sound advice that will be of aid to even the most experienced Homing Pigeon breeder. Also included are three hard to find articles on Homing Pigeons from the turn of the century that discuss the roles these courageous birds have played in war time and in sport, including William Tegetmeier's article "On The Training of the Homing Pigeon", E. I. Farrington's "The Pigeon in War Service" and the U. S. Navy's report "Homing Pigeons For Sea Service". Note: This edition is a perfect facsimile of the original edition and is not set in a modern typeface. As a result, some type characters and images might suffer from slight imperfections or minor shadows in the page background.
