Neil Jordan is indisputably the most important filmmaker to emerge in the context of contemporary Irish cinema to date. However, Jordan began his career as a fiction writer and has written five novels - The Past (1980), Sunrise With Sea Monster (1994), Shade (2005), Mistaken (2011), and The Drowned Detective (2016), a novella, The Dream Of A Beast (1983) and a book of short stories, Night In Tunisia (1976). Neil Jordan: The Literary Fiction examines in detail this significantbody of work in the context of modernist and postmodernist tendencies in European and North American Literature.
