For women in the church, there are a lot of
rules about how to dress. For Wilhelmina, Shy, and Tiara, the guidelines were
clear. Always wear stockings. Only wear closed-toed shoes. No pants, and make
sure your skirt is at least mid-calf length. Blouses should be buttoned to the
neck and tucked neatly, and makeup isn't needed, except maybe a little lip
gloss. And finally, make sure hair is up neatly in a bun, not hanging -- church
check complete.

HEM: Dressing the Body and Not Addressing the
Soul is a story about
very different women in very different stages of life, all dealing with deep
hurts. While some focus on the strict teachings of religion and how a woman in
church ought to dress, others struggle with how to apply this teaching to their
lives that have been flipped upside down. Traumatic circumstances bring them
all together, and they eventually realize that no attire can reveal or hide the
condition of their hearts from God.
