This is an autobiography, with a difference. It tells the powerful story of a woman who overcame a tragic loss by turning to God for strength in her time of need. This seemingly insignificant step was the start of an amazing journey. First, back to my previously unrecognized, painful childhood in which there was no God. And then, forward through several encounters with God, which struck me briefly at the time, but became lost in the business of day-to-day living. And finally, to realize the wonder of an ongoing life with God at the center of all aspects of my life and relationships. I believe this story provides insight to others about the importance of recognizing and becoming oneself. As this book will testify, I spent many years, unknowingly, conforming to the image of what others expected me to be. As a result, I found myself at the age of 42, with no identity. At this time, I began the, sometimes painful process, of discovering 'self.' Thankfully, with God's help and Barbara's support I was able to emerge as the strong, independent woman, God made me to be.
