2 Sonatines for Clarinet, Op. post. 137
Franz Schubert
(LKM Music). These two Sonatines composed by Schubert in March of 1816 receive relatively little attention from violinists, Richard Stoltzman thankfully decided to transcribe them for the clarinet. The felicitous and satisfying quality of the works is perfect for the clarinet as they are full of memorable melodies contained in a formal claity, that is nevertheless full of harmonic surprises. This edition includes a CD recording of Richard Stoltzman and the pianist Richard Goode performing them. This is a world premiere edition never before published. "Richard Stoltzman has created practical and enjoyable versions of these Sonatines for clarinet and piano... Schubert's typical beauty of melody and balance of form combine for satisfying recital or recreational works."-- The Clarinet
