The picture of a young boy fishing on a riverbank was a familiar scene that was not uncommon in the southern rural states. This picture was in a local newspaper, and it seemed to cry out for a story about who this young lad was and what his life was like. Where did he come from, where did he live, what was his childhood like, was he an only child, etc. The story of Timothy began to develop with a serious theme, revealing the power of kindness that overcomes and colors in which a young lad copes with the cruelty of others--a lesson applicable to all mankind in today's world.
