"Why didn't you ask for our help before now?" Lane stared at her a moment then sighed, "Because I wasn't completely sure until now. I had my doubts, I didn't believe it, but I wasn't really sure.""And what has changed your mind?" Eva asked. Her clenched jaw, flared nostrils, and narrowed eyes made it pretty easy to tell she wasn't happy with him. "Because she just told me she has started having dreams about it or nightmares," He answered without hesitation. "I don't believe she would if she truly did it." There was silence again. "I agree," Scott said. "Me too," Everyone but Eva said and my body melted against Skylar as the relief ran through me. Eva was the only one that hadn't spoken. "Eva?" I said softly and she turned intense blue eyes to me that made my breath catch. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. This could be my last chance. "I don't know what happened, but I do know I love my son and I would do nothing to hurt him...ever. I don't believe I did it." I stood away from Skylar and straightened my shoulders and with the most determined, strong voice I'd had in two years I spoke. "I DID NOT set that fire but I don't know what happened." She stared at me a moment then nodded her head. "I believe you," She said and turned to Lane. "I'll call Vince and talk to him."She turned without another word or without looking at anyone and walked down the hall to the office. She firmly shut the door behind her.
