With a voice born in Appalachia, developed in New England and the Northern Tier of the Adirondacks, and honed to a point in the rural highlands of western Guatemala; Marie comes to the world stage with her fifth published poetry book. Her professional work has taken her from handling live tuberculosis in the laboratory; to performing c-sections on animals and emergency human medicine in remote villages; to standing as a US diplomat and world servant on the national and international scenario promoting climate action. Her award-winning poetry reflects her diversity of life experience. In this book, Marie tackles issues of climate change and social justice; ecological and cultural tensions; a woman's rage and sense of loss in the era of Trumpism; Central American migration; reflections on the joy of being alive; and our interconnectedness, frailty, and potential.
