Today our nation, our Constitutional Republic, our "government of the people, by the people and for the people," is facing many challenges. They are both domestic and foreign. I am sure the reader can identify and prioritize this long list but I would like to focus on a critical issue identified by our 3rd President Thomas Jefferson's quote, "All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent." America needs an informed, educated, pro-active citizenry. A red-flashing warning signal is the abysmal voter turnout in our local, state and federal elections. As imperfect as we all are, including our elected politicians, an apathetic, non-participating citizenry is the greatest danger to the continued future and success of our Constitutional Republic.
