This story is specifcally written to help young students of sign language to read and sign at the same time. Although it is not possible to follow the grammatical rules of American Sign Language (ASL) and English at the same time, this book is what I like to call "ASL friendly" meaning it is possible to sign and read the story together. My hope is that families will read the story accompanied with the signs to encourage emerging readers. This is the perfect "frst reader" for children learning American Sign Language! The simple text and visual artwork (most done by deaf students) is charming. It definitely hits the mark as being ASL friendly.
