FOSTERING THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD, VOLUME 2: In this volume, Desmond Tomlinson recounts his adolescent years in Jamaica when he was transferred from the orphanage to a foster home. He details the immense physical and psychological suffering that was borne by him and the other foster children. Desmond presents a disturbing first-hand picture of the vulnerability and exploitation of children in foster care. In this vivid recounting, the errors of institutions created to protect children, are brought to light. This unintended family destruction culminates in his recollection of the pain of separation that occurred when his brother was transferred to a juvenile correctional institution.
