"Ms. Queena introduced me to the word resilient, she told me that's what I was. I was a girl that at the age of 5 started to see the harsh reality of what the world could be, a girl that at the age of 8 experienced the feeling of neglect and not being special enough, a girl at the age of 9 lost her voice, a girl at the age of 11 lost her innocence, a girl at the age of 12 that trusted a person who did nothing but show hate and evilness. I am a girl who has been through hell and back, a girl that pours her heart out through poetry, a girl that never gave up. Being through all that I have been through I have learned a valuable lesson; we are not what we come from but where we are going. I try to focus more on the brightness of my future than I do on the burdens of my past. I will never allow a situation to change who I am, I will always be...... resilient.
