24060422. Joel Lundy knew the moment he was issued his army service number that his destiny was set, his path concrete. 0422, the same last digits of his father Alfred.

Alfred had turned the other direction after a long service with the Kings Hampshire Regiment, onto civvy street where kids back-chat elders and job centre staff sneer. Joel reluctantly now faces the great army machine; armed with a paintbrush, floppy hair and a haggard inertia.

This is the story of a father and son facing new realities in their lives: civvy to squaddie, squaddie to civvy.
