The Exit Machine
Leo Arland
'The Exit Machine' follows the dystopian tradition of George Orwell's '1984' and Margaret Atwood's 'The Handmaid's tale.' Consisting of two short chapters; 'The Dignity Room' and 'The Dignity Suite,' it explores the varied personalities and petty politics of 'The Dignity Dispatch Unit' where assisted dying is the norm. Laced with a heavy dose of black humour, it's written in the conviction that recent cultural developments could well be laying the foundations for a mass extermination society.
