The President of the United States is awakened in the middle of the night by the two words he prayed he would never hear-TERMINAL BREACH. An unknown invader-code name GRAY WOLF- commandeers a U. S. nuclear missile silo in North Dakota and threatens to launch a Minuteman III ICBM into the world. The PRESIDENT'S only certain containment option is the obliteration of the U. S. Midwest nuclear arsenal. But that comes at a horrific cost--several millions of civilian lives lost. Across the country, the world-renowned forensic sleuth on hiatus, Dr. Elliot Sumner, is pulled into the international crisis moments after he spots a serial killer in the streets of Key West. A monster he thought he put away for life. Somehow this killer is entangled in the assault on the country. Within hours of the breach, the POTUS connects with Elliott Sumner. He asks the gifted forensic pathologist to examine bizarre evidence that may help to profile the invading entity. The mutilated corpses found around the world are processed, frozen solid, and hidden (dispersed) in a peculiar manner. Maybe the macabre blood trail can identify GRAY WOLF and give the President more options. Setting aside his life-threatening condition, Elliott Sumner travels to North Dakota to do what only he can do.
