The Broom
Drew Nickell
In the 1690s, witchcraft hysteria overtook the fledgling settlement of Salem, Massachusetts. Before the crisis ended, nineteen suspected witches were sent to the gallows, and one man was even pressed to death. The Broom picks up where the regrettable history of the Salem Witch Trials leaves off, suggesting the ultimate destiny of two women connected with the hysteria- one factual and one fictional. The book combines actual historical accounts with a family secret connected to a broom that would eventually become an heirloom, to be passed down generations.
Follow Lydia, as she escapes the Salem Witch Trials and the many decades which followed, recounting her transformation from mere mortality to immortality.
