Dreams of Falling
Ranequa Kelley-Boyd
A young, Black girl's' poetic journey battling bipolar depression, anxiety and low self-esteem, yearning to find true happiness. Using poetry as her outlet, she describes her struggles with suicidal contemplation, promiscuity, self-doubt, failure and insecurities- striving to rise above it all. Behind the bright smile she flaunts, she hides the thoughts of a dark, crowded and chaotic mind. Despite these struggles, she is determined to manifest her dreams into reality, and become the best version of herself. Through her many imaginative, vivid and bold poems, she narrates her journey to gaining self-love and self-discovery.
