Way Back When was originally presented as a series of online articles about the history of the First Congregational Church of Rindge, New Hampshire, written by church historian, Margaret Morabito. Now, compiled and expanded into book form here, the author provides the reader with a look back in time to the earliest years (1758 to 1820) of the church and the meetinghouse, while retaining the personal point of view from the original series. In-text citations and source references are provided at the end of each chapter so that interested readers may explore deeper into this fascinating period of time. The intent here is to compile relevant and authentic facts from various sources into one place and to write them into an easy-to-read form. These include facts about the founding of the church, the people, the building, and the ways of the time. Also included are pictures of historical artifacts related to the Rindge Congregational Church, providing an up close and personal look into the past. This book will appeal to those who are interested in the history of the Congregational Churches of rural New England in the late 1700s and early 1800s. While preparing the research for this book, it became evident that these stories are very typical of the many small towns in the region. This book will also appeal, of course, to current and future members of the First Congregational Church and Society in Rindge.
