Love Light Life Ladyblack

Author, poet, spoken word artist and dancer, LadyBlack, is a survivor and this book is her passionate battle cry. Continuing the tradition of the African American Women poets whose shoulders she stands on, honoring women like Phillis Wheatley and Maya Angelou, and looking to elders like Sonia Sanchez and Nikki Giovanni, LadyBlack writes in defiance of the status quo, defiance of love gone wrong, and defiance of death itself. And in so doing, she writes poems that acknowledge the exquisite and multifaceted beauty of Love, Light and Life. Having recently received a liver transplant in 2016, and in the process, having undergone 5 surgeries, not to mention several near death experiences in the years prior, all due to autoimmune hepatitis, LadyBlack presents this work to the world and dares herself to live up to it.
