When they were little, to distinguish him from Santa Claus, Elliott Pierce's wife jokingly had his children call him Sugar Daddy. The children had no idea of the worldly connotation. Giving to his grown kids at Christmas is Elliott's greatest joy, until this year when he decides to include them in the joy of giving to someone else. All three refuse, they're too busy with their own life situations to give of their time and energy helping Dad serve at Bright Haven women's shelter in Cliffside, Oregon. A visit from Mom and in their own self-interest they change their minds. Elliott uncovers a plot to close Bright Haven, where he and his sister and mother lived for two years when he was a child. With thirty days to fix the old Victorian house or lose it, the whole family pitches in. The fight to save Bright Haven reveals the broken places in their own hearts, and sets them on the path to change.
