In October 2009, Wiltshire CCG decided that a young man with autism and a rare pituitary condition needed a carer, but then refused to commission the requisite care.

Poor governance led to multiple process errors and conflicted decision making, until, in May 2018, a unique trial under the Equality Act brought the CCG to court.
Their case collapsed even before they had presented any evidence, and, under a court order, they accepted the need to provide the appropriate care.
