The automotive industry is facing increased'productivity-pressure' as European and US marketsare almost saturated. OEMs extend theirproduct ranges in order to hold their market shares. Developing more product variants increases complexityand as a result car manufacturers need to increase the efficiency of their product development projects by reducing cost and shorten time-to-market. Within the development process testing takesa significant portion of the overall product development cost (prototype production, sophisticatedtest equipment, ...). Finding success factors forautomotive testing makes a substantial economicpotential available for improving also the overallproduct development process. The author developed a success model in order to identify critical success factors. Informationmanagement is one of the key success factors in atest facility.
