Structure, Symmetry and Luminescence: of Anionic Copper (I), Silver (I), and Gold (I) Halide Complexes
Randal Hallford
Chemically tuned emission properties of luminescent materials are important in sensing technology, such as coatings on spectroscopic detectors. Copper(I), Silver(I) and Gold(I) halide complexes are well known as candidates for luminescence properties that are dependent upon choice of ligand and more recently the symmetry of the complex about the metal centers. This book establishes and illustrates the systematic energy changes in fluorescent properties of these complexes with symmetry within a class of halide ligands. Quantum mechanical calculations indicate the energy and source of these luminescent properties as well as the quenching phenomenon found in some higher symmetry species.
