Smart Wireless Sensor Networks: a Study on Smart Dust and an Analog Interface for Body Area Networks

This book presents a work in the upcoming field of WBAN (wireless Body Area Networks). Development of WBAN has opened new areas of research in fields of sensor network which has a wide range of applications such as health monitoring, military, portable audio and video systems, etc. WBAN is a sensor network that autonomously connects several sensors inside or outside a human body. The major problem in implementing such networks is threefold. Firstly, power consumption and area which are limited by the technology (limitation on minimum size and power consumption of transistors). Secondly, locating the area of event which arises due to requirement of motes without identity. Thirdly, cost factor as the number of motes required would be high. This work comprises of modeling a power and area efficient smart dust network using a novel algorithm to detect the location of event without giving identity to the motes and also developing an interface for body area network.
