Mechanisms of Phosphorus Efficiency in Potato Genotypes: Genotypic Variation in Carbon Budgeting As Mechanism of P Utilization Efficiency
Tesfaye Balemi
Twenty potato genotypes collected from Ethiopia, The Netherlands and Germany were first screened for P efficiency under two P levels in soil. Genotypes with contrasting P efficiency were further evaluated for P uptake efficiency under two P levels in soil and for P utilization efficiency in nutrient solution under three P regimes. The results obtained revealed that the genotypes differed in P utilization efficiency which was related to difference in carbon budgeting of the genotypes.
