Beliefs About Language Learning Magdalena Ríhová

This research deals with differences among learners which may affect the learning process and focuses on their beliefs about learning English as a foreign language. The aim of the work was to explore the students? beliefs and bring together tips which could help them change the incorrect beliefs and suggest several strategies in order to help them improve their performance. The work is divided into two parts. Theoretical part where I described and brought together various differences among learners which may affect not only the way they learn but also the outcomes of this process. In practical part I decided to identify the overall trends in beliefs about language learning held by my students and to explore their opinions on the best way how to learn EFL, as well as to find out whether the learner beliefs differ as far as successful and unsuccessful students are concerned and also what strategies they use when studying the foreign language. The analysis was based on case studies and BALLI questionnaire. Further I explored useful tips suitable for remedial teaching and tried them with my own students.
