Underwater Supercavitating Projectiles: Cfd Analysis

Super-cavitation is the state of the art technology that may revolutionize underwater propulsion systems. Super-caviatating bodies can achieve very high speeds under water by virtue of reduced hydrodynamic drag with respect to fully wetted underwater vehicles. A cavitation bubble is generated at the nose, by virtue of that skin friction drag is drastically reduced. This study will be carried out to investigate various aspects of axisymmetric super-caviatating projectiles. In this project, it is aimed at the optimization of the cavitator shape for axisymmetric bodies in partially caviatating flow, at different front end profiles with different angle of attack.
