Are We Ready for Electronic Health Information Exchanges?: the Purpose of This Study is to Understand the Challenges, Benefits and Limitations to Hie Technology

When you look at the airline industry, restaurant industry and banking industry you can see the evolution, adoption, and value in the implementation of technology. By comparison the Healthcare industry has been slow to adopt information technology in the clinical setting. Recently, Healthcare technology has come into the spotlight as the government has increased their focus on the development of Health Information Exchanges. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether providers and hospital administrators are ready for Health Information Exchanges and to understand the challenges, benefits and limitations to HIE technology.
