This book attemts to investigate and discuss difficulties and problems which Arab students encounter in learning English, and how far the English language curriculum can meet the requirements and needs of students. To diagnose this, the book aims: 1- To identify the perceptions of Arab and Saudi students in particular about the factors which could cause learning difficulties for them. 2- To identify the attitudes, expectations and motivations of Saudi students toward learning English. 3- To determine the strengths and weaknesses of the English language curriculum with respect to teachers' preparation, students' interests and needs, teaching aids, and to consider improvement for the curriculum. 4- To determine the effect of the school district on the judgement of the three groups of students, teachers, and parents in regard to the effectiveness of learning the English curriculum and difficulties encountered by students. 5- To identify the experiment of the Ministry of Education in the UAE in implementing a successful English course which decreased factors of students' learning difficulties. 6- To make some suggestions and recommendations.
