The Re-Evaluation of the Colonial in Fray Martin de Murua
Christian Cipriano Cáceres Sandoval
This book studies the textual and rhetorical mechanisms in the construction of the Historia general del Perú by Fray Martín de Murúa. In this sense, it will be analyzed how in the narration about the Tahuantinsuyo different traditions are linked: the classical historiography (especially Cicero), the homiletic, the exemplary and, all of them, sustained by a providentialist scheme. Likewise, the complex argumentation that the chronicler elaborates to criticize the inefficiency of those who are in charge of the colonial administration is studied.
