From access to drinking water to health risks

Water shortage is a reality in the sub-prefecture of Bonon, west-central Côte d'Ivoire. The populations of this area are experiencing enormous difficulties in accessing safe water for daily consumption. Today, about 66% of the households in Bonon do not have access to drinking water. Their main sources of supply are unprotected wells, which are used by 31.7% of households. This water shortage leads households to adopt precarious ways of conserving and managing water in their homes. They consume the water that is readily available to them, regardless of its quality. Thus, these households are exposed to health risks. Indeed, nearly 20% of households in Bonon have suffered from diarrhea as a result of drinking unsafe water. This book is intended for the whole world.
