They were known as 'Chitrakathi', but this was some time back, may be a few thousands year. As the years passed, the trends changed, old customs were replaced by new ones. Old was forgotten in the chaos of new. But it was not vanished completely. Cinema today, is the more advanced form of those 'chitrakathi'.
