It employs a small manageable set of terms and focuses on all the basics of sentence analysis. Progression is gentle, and all theory is carefully explained and followed by both ‘lifeline’ exercises with solutions at the back of the book and ‘deep-water’ ones without. This makes the book suitable for individual self-study as well as for classroom discussions in formal teaching situations.
