After defeating his ruthless uncle Richelo on a heinous mission to conquer the universe, twelve-year-old sorcerer Charles Fletcher is looking forward to a restful summer. Charles and his comrades will learn more about themselves and their world on the journey halfway across the country to impending doom. But despite all preparations, the four sorcerers cannot possibly be prepared for the horrors that dwell in their destination. The returners will face unfathomable losses, startling realizations, and cause for improbable hope. Lifted was a five-year journey for the author that extended across a wide range of experiences and personal growth, and the scope of the novel reflects this depth. Armed with forcefully flawed personalities and elvish idiosyncrasies, its characters share a story of innocence and experience, freedom and bondage, nature and magic, good and evil, love and hate. Through his unique style of prose, Overton reveals the interminable conflict of good and evil and the lifting flight for which we all long.
